Spiritual Deepening Group:
Carrying Our Lights
What to Expect
The focus of Carrying Our Lights is on what we find that illuminates us, what has casts shadows, and how we can carry light for others.
The group will meet three times as we approach the Winter Solstice.
Each session we will engage in a shared spiritual practice and there will be periods of silence or gentle music to create a meditative space. We will serve as mirrors and guides to one another.
Each session's offerings and practices will be slightly different. Details about supplies for each session are in the descriptions below. Use the Register Now button to sign up for this limited time spiritual deepening group.

What light do we carry?
For whom or what do we carry a light? How do we reflect our light to others?
Supplies to have prepared for the session:
A poem, song, passage in a book, piece of visual art, short video or audio clip, or any other item you can share about in ~3-4 minutes that inspires you. This could be anything so long as it can be shared with the group such that we can see, hear, experience, or otherwise get a full sense of the piece.
An unburned candle that you would be ok giving away. (Following the session, you may choose to gift this to someone else or you may prepare it for yourself.)
Optional: a pin or knife to carve into the wax of the candle.
Optional: journal or other option for reflection in writing or images.

What is in shadow?
What shadows are cast? What exists in the shadows? What may be obscured?
Supplies to have prepared for the session:
Sheet of blank paper.
Drawing supplies to your preference. (Colored pens, pencils, crayons, just a plain pencil or pen, etc.)
Small flashlight, cell phone light, or other option that can cast reasonably high contrast light.
1 to 3 small objects of some spiritual significance that have 3 dimensions; think crystals, stones, small statues or trinkets, etc.
Optional: journal or other option for reflection in writing.

What is illuminated?
What illuminates us? What needs illumination?
Supplies to have prepared for the session:
Candle(s) or other low-light option, preferably something with a real flame but practice fire safety as needed by your location.
Journal or other option for reflection in writing or images.
